About Josh Mar

I was 3 years old when I had a favourite song, and I loved the turntable, the way it spun the vinyl records around and around…

I started collecting songs while I was in high school, and by the age of 14, I was organising smaller school and private parties. I began my DJ career at 18 in nightclubs. I worked with Aiwa decks because I couldn’t afford proper turntables.

I visited various clubs to observe and learn from DJs, starting with the Sóskút Disco, then the Hysteia Techno Club in Budapest, where I learned the techniques of DJ Jutasi and DJ Budai. During this time, I organised Hardcore Techno parties at the Százhalombatta Cultural Centre, and in the summer of 1993, I worked with DJ László Czövek. Between 1993 and 1994, I organised parties with a close friend in various locations, including Kisújszállás. In the autumn of 1994, I was invited to be a resident DJ at the Cactus Club in Százhalombatta.

In 1997, I completed a course at the OSZK School, where I obtained an official DJ qualification (covering technical equipment, music theory, mixing, speech techniques, and health and safety). In 1999, I worked as a resident DJ at the Simon Club in Budapest and the Game Over Club in Százhalombatta. In 2000, I took over the venue of the Game Over Club and started the WooDoo Club, which quickly became a huge success.

This was followed by several more resident DJ positions, such as at the Orange Club in Százhalombatta in 2007 and Fortuna in Pétfürdő. I also had the opportunity to play in Zalaegerszeg and Balatonmáriafürdő.

In 2004, I worked at Százhalombatta Radio 100 as a programme editor, host, and technician. I started organising music events in Budapest in 2009, including the Innocence party held at Cöxpon. The 2011 New Year’s Eve party was so successful that guests from the Óbuda shipyard said we were much better than they had expected.

In 2009, I successfully completed the EFHA professional DJ training school, where the best in the country taught us mixing techniques in all musical styles. I would like to highlight that at that time, I studied 3-turntable mixing techniques in special classes. Here, I obtained an advanced qualification in the DJ profession.

In 2012, based on an idea I suggested and the planning concept of my co-organiser, I successfully organised the first and second (in the same summer) Beach Nights in Százhalombatta, with 1,500 guests attending each event. No one has been able to repeat this success since.

I can also say that I was the first DJ in Százhalombatta and the surrounding area to play electronic music. I have been working internationally since 2012, particularly in the UK, Spain, and Hungary. I have been invited to the US twice in the last six years and was offered resident DJ positions in Ibiza in 2020, which were unfortunately cancelled due to the lockdowns.

Currently, my Waves Of Dreams mix series and online radio mixes are receiving a lot of attention.
